The Power of Gender and Friendship.   “A Girl Named Adam” by Jordon J. Scavone is different from the books I usually review on here, thus I’m not too familiar with the criteria that make for a good children’s book. Nonetheless, as a fellow writer, I was able to spot the book’s numerous high points.   As a trans person, I looked for anything that may have come off as misrepresentation. However, the truth is, I hardly found anything that was done poorly by this book. You can even say that A Girl Named Adam is near perfect in storytelling, artwork and its cause.   Story   Since I want to make this as spoiler-free as possible, I’ll keep details to a minimum.   This is an interesting one because the book tells the story from the perspective of the trans kid’s friend. Usually, you would find storybooks with LGBT…

An End To Years of Abuse.   At the time of writing this, it has been over two weeks since I left the home of my abusive family. I’m in a more loving family now where I’m away from the people that brought me continuous suffering and misery that affected my mental health.   Before this all started, I wasn’t much for talking about my personal life. I liked to pretend all was well, but now I’ve been expressing more of what happens behind the scenes to my friends.   About three weeks ago, my mother told me she is giving me four days to leave her home.   The Beginning.   In case you missed the hints on my website, I’m transgender (I also identify as a lesbian).   Unfortunately for my whole life, I’ve had to grow up in a strictly religious household where my mother was the…

Please, I don’t want her to be added to the list of persons we’ve lost so far.   Before going into this, I just want to say that I’m not here to convince anyone that Holly Conrad did anything right or not in the midst of the ProJared controversy. I’m only here to voice my concerns as someone who knows what it’s like to suffer from depression and suicidal thoughts, especially following social media backlash.   Holly Conrad found herself in the middle of the ProJared controversy as being the person Jared slept with, even though Jared himself was married to his now ex-wife Heidi O’Ferrall.   From the beginning, I didn’t want to cast judgement on Holly in this situation until I knew the reason behind her actions. As someone who has been taken advantage of by a friend to feed their sexual desires, if Holly had no ill…

“He’s just doing it for attention”, they said.   One of my favourite YouTubers, Etika, also known as Desmond Amofah, has now been confirmed dead following the discovery of his body after he went missing for several days. Even before he talked about it himself, there were numerous signs of him suffering from mental illness leading up to this, like when he threatened to kill himself and the police were called.   However, when all of this was going down, there was a vocal section of the internet saying how he was doing all of this for attention. Well, he’s dead and gone now. Is he still doing it for attention?   Go fuck yourselves, you pieces of shit.     That was just some of the disgusting comments found in the Kotaku Facebook post about Etika going missing.     I got a bit worried myself after watching Rich…
