ICEY Imagine Devil May Cry as a side-scroller. This is without a doubt one of the funniest hack-n-slash games I’ve played since Devil May Cry. ICEY doesn’t just give a satisfying gameplay, it puts you on really fun journey as you play through the game with the narrator’s direction. However, quick warning: Use the Japanese audio. It’s a must as the other language voice overs don’t really do the game justice. Likes: The music is quite good, but nothing really special. Very enjoyable hack and slash gameplay, but I can’t believe there was guns in the game and they took it out!! T_T They looked so freaking good. The artwork is very nice. CUPID A romance visual novel you need to experience. CUPID honestly left me speechless. It was just so beautifully romantic and enticing. You can tell that it was aimed at a female demographic just from how elegant the story is. I think this only the second visual novel that has ever made me not want to stop reading it for any reason. I was always so excited to see what happened next. The mystery isn’t as simple as one thinks and it really gets you hooked. Not once while reading CUPID I thought, “ugh, I wish this character wasn’t here”. Not only is every character important, they’re all very likable and interesting. The artwork and illustrations are simply spectacular. They were all drawn with such a graceful art style, enough so that you’ll fall in love with the characters almost purely on art alone. Lynne It makes me wish I was reading something else. I really love the retro aesthetic Lynne has going for it. The art style really does it justice and makes it appealing to look at. The music also plays on your nostalgia. It’s not great by any means, but good nonetheless. But unfortunately that’s where the positives end. The writing of the visual novel feels really drawn out and rarely progresses the story into any interesting direction. When it does, it’s usually very short lived. The story feels like it is lost in its own limbo. I can see where the visual novel is trying to go. It’s trying to capture what it likes to be a teenage girl that’s dealing with her daily struggles. Blossoms Bloom Brightest I’m not sure what to think. The story/writing of the visual novel is pretty average. Not bad, but not good either. If I had to find a word for it, I would say that it was just “fine”. Three girls end up on a spaceship and must now spend their lives together. You learn about them more as you progress the story, but it also doesn’t really get into too much background detail about everything and seems to be more focused on getting with either girl. I do have a bit of a problem with there only being two romance options and both of them not being really likeable. Kotoha (the youngest) feels too much like a child so it feels really weird having a relationship with her.
