T.E.R.F War
Chapter 19: “Escaping The Void”.
Chante looked at Athena fiercely, like she was holding back punching her in the face.
“Chante”, Athena smiled, “It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I trust my message was delivered to you.”
Chante’s eyes narrowed with hate-filled intent.
“It’s going to be hard to go through with that threat when I skewer your entire hideout with your own blood”, a black blade ejected from Chante’s right arm ejected.
Athena laughed at Chante’s words as though they didn’t even phase her.
“I bet you also wish you could do so right now if it wasn’t for the fact that we’re inside the oh-so-powerful Lumiere.”, Athena told her gleefully.
Lumiere? This place we’re in, this void, it’s called…Lumiere?
“You mean Emilia’s demi-human power”, Chante rebutted.
I got taken aback by what Chante said. She just said we’re…inside my demi-human power? Ignoring the multitude of questions I have, the one thing that strikes me the most was that Chante just implied that I’m demi-human.
“Wrong”, Athena waggled her finger at us with a smile, “You’re inside the very thing I’m coming to claim, dear Chante.”
Athena disappeared from in front of us in the blink of an eye.
“And trust me-,” Athena spoke from behind us, but before she could properly end her sentence, Chante’s swift movement with her arm allowed her to thrust a blade behind her.
I turned around to see Chante had pierced through Athena’s head from below her chin with her black blade. However, there was no blood to indicate Athena was just stabbed through the head. In fact, the blades look like they just phased through her body.
“Ever the feisty one”, Athena spoke having Chante’s black blade stuck through her like a pole.
Chante’s blade retracted into her hand and she backed me away from Athena, her face still serious. Judging from her unchanging expression, it would seem she knew that the attack wouldn’t do anything.
Athena smiled at us.
“I’m coming to collect my prize, Chante. Tell April I’m sending some special guests to gut her little team.”
“Too much of a lazy bitch to do your own f**king dirty work?”, Chante asked with disgust.
“Such a potty mouth”, Athena laughed, “But as you know, Chante dear, I need to give them the experience. If I did everything myself, the fun would be over far too quickly. And you know I like to savour my meals.” Athena licked her lips.
“I think it’s about time you leave.”, Chante said with intensity.
“What, but I was having so much fun!”, Athena faked a sad expression. “Oh well, I guess all good things must come to an end. I’ll be seeing you two soon. And Emilia…”,
I looked at Athena, paying attention to her final words.
“…Daddy’s waiting for you.”, Athena chuckled before disappearing into thin air.
“Wait!”, I shouted trying to get more answers before she left.
“It’s too late. She’s already disconnected her mind from you.”, Chante spoke.
“I have to go after her! Chante, she has my father!”, I shouted, ignoring what Chante said about Athena disconnecting her mind from me.
“Emilia! Calm down!”, Chante held me firmly. She let out a deep breath, “I want to do anything I can to help you save your father, but right now, we need to get out of here…well, out of you, for lack of better words.”
“Chante, what’s going on?”, I asked her hoping for answers.
“Emilia, I don’t think you know this, but your father, Dr. Eric Blake, is a demi-human specialist and researcher. He’s created something powerful enough that it’s caught the eyes of Athena, one of the deadliest demi-humans on this planet. Frankly, I don’t know how he kept something like this hidden from the world governments. I’ll explain what Lumiere is later, but right now all I can say is that it’s a part of you and Athena is about to wage a war to get her hands on it. And if Athena succeeds, well, let’s just say that fighting terfs and bigoted assholes would be the very least of our worries. We could kiss the entire world goodbye.”
That’s…wow. That’s a lot to take in.
“Listen, when we died from Rachel’s bomb, Lumiere activated and you somehow saved Sasha and me from meeting an abrupt end. We have you to thank for keeping us alive, even if you don’t know how you did it.”
The thing I understood the most there was that Sasha was alive. It alone made me feel relieved about this situation.
“Demi-humans awaken their abilities under the most unpredictable of circumstances. Now that you’ve awakened your power, Athena knows and now you’ve painted a bullseye on your back. And as you can see, she has no problem getting in your head. We’re just lucky she can’t do much not knowing where your physical body is. So with that said, we should get out of here ourselves.”
Chante snapped her fingers and a wooden door appeared before us. It swung open to reveal a bright, white light inside it. I don’t know how Chante did that but that’s the least important question I have on my mind right now.
“Ready?”, Chante asked holding out her hand.
“Yeah”, I nodded my head. I took her hand and walked with her into the door. However, as I did that, I could hear a voice call out to me from inside the void, or as Chante and Athena called it, Lumiere.
Good luck, Emi.
That voice. I know that voice. I turned around to see a faint silhouette, bearly visible inside Lumiere.
“Mom?”, I said before being engulfed by the light of the door.
